MIAMI, Feb. 1 (AP) -- With less than eight minutes remaining, the Miami Heat were in a 12-point hole and their superstar guard had already established a franchise record for most turnovers in a game.

"I knew it had to get better,'' Dwyane Wade said.

And it did.

Wade had 41 points - including a team-record 24 points in the final quarter - as Miami pulled off a big rally to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 92-89 in a game that had some bizarre occurrences down the stretch.

Miami- The Cavaliers were on the verge of snapping their seven- game losing streak at Miami with a double-digit lead early in the fourth quarter.

But the Cavs did not have an answer for Dwyane Wade nor could they solve their season-long problems at the free-throw line. That all led to a 92-89 loss to the Miami Heat on Thursday night at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Wade led all scorers with 41 points. He scored a season-high 24 points in the fourth quarter when the Cavs had 23. Wade was 23-of-24 from the free-throw line and the Cavs, last in the league in free-throw shooting, finished 15-of-24.

MIAMI - The Cavaliers, and specifically LeBron James, got a harsh lesson in how to play championship basketball Thursday.

It was administered by Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat, who might be floundering below .500 at this point, but sure showed why they won a ring last season and the Cavs aren't sniffing one.

Wade took over the game in the fourth quarter with his special and unrelenting style, which, combined with plenty of Cavs' mental and physical mistakes, led to a 92-89 Heat victory.

If the last meeting between Dwyane Wade and LeBron James was an instant classic, this one felt more like slow torture.

At least for the first three quarters it was, with Wade on his way to setting a franchise record for turnovers and James matching Wade's unimpressive 4-of-13 shooting.

As is his preferred method, however, Wade saved his classic performance for the finish.

Wade set a Heat record for points in a quarter with 24 of his game-high 41 coming in the fourth, leading the Heat back from a 12-point deficit to defeat the Cavaliers 92-89.

Dwyane Wade and LeBron James pretty much took care of that Thursday night at AmericanAirlines Arena, especially through the first three dreary quarters.

Opening a combined 8 of 26 from the field, the two fourth-year prodigies struggled before Wade took charge late to lead the Heat to a 92-89 victory over James' Cavaliers.
