I was excited about Varejao this year, hoping he'd get more playing time than he is and hoping the Cavs would start phasing out Gooden. But man has he been playing well. A bit inconsistent, but well nonetheless.
Any inside info on his workout during the summer? Is he just trying harder this year? |

i think the main reason Gooden is playing at a higher level is because this is the first time he's spent two years under the same coach in consecutive years. Gooden has never come off to me as a very smart man so I think the steadiness of the preaching of a consistent coaching staff might finally be helping him.
Hopefully, he keeps this up. I too think Varejao is going to be a stud. But he is a RFA after this year and it'd be nice to keep his price down. |

I think he just takes awhile to learn things- and he is starting to 'get' some of this stuff.
Still inconsistent, and that is bothersome. I see the light with him, that he may realize his potential of being a solid 25 minute per game energy guy who can defend most players, but he has also been a good season starter in his career but a poor season-finisher. |

I like both, Gooden has had his ups and downs, but hopefully he will eventually round out and become a solid player.
I've liked Varejao since before the draft, and when he got traded to the Cavs, I was very happy. I hope both will stick around for a while. |
