Here's a fantasy trade that teams should do in real life, helps 'em both...
Adam Dunn goes from Cincy to the Dodgers, he fills the lefthanded bad void left by the JDDrew bolt, Reds get rid of his salary and his whiffs (Krivsky hates guys who SO, see Kearns...), could sign a 1b/RF or resign supersub Aurilia. LA is a team that can live with his lousy defense at a corner OF spot, the Reds just can't... (+Dodgers have cash) Reds get LF Andre Ethier. Love this guy, great rookie season: .308 .477 .365, 11 homers, 55 rbi hits lefty pitching very well (.281 .414 .336/.337 .544 .394 splits so he hits lefies better actually!) plays good D, although can be erratic with the glove, but that's always better than Dunn (way better range and instincts) 24 so huge upside. I think we have a very good major leaguer in the making, no star (hope I'm mistaking) but a useful ballplayer (it helps that andre is really good looking) + a Rhp preferably starters Brad Penny or Chad Billinglsey, but I'm willing to bring back onetime Red Elmer Dessens or Brett Tomko + a prospect(Yhency Brazoban?) if Dodgers won't part with Penny/Billingsley. If Aurilia is definitely leaving, add corner IF Olmedo Saenz to the deal to platoon with Hatteberg... SP: Arroyo, Harang, Lohse, Milton(L), Billingsley/Penny/Tomko RP: Stanton(L), Coffey, Belisle, Bray(L), Cormier(L), Majewski, sign Gagne/Williamson or use Bailey like Sox with Papelbon Lineup: RF Freel 1b Hatteberg/Saenz or Aurilia CF Griffey 3b Encarnacion LF Ethier c Ross 2b Phillips ss Gonzalez bench: Valentin-Saenz/Aurilia-Castro-Denorfia-Crosby/Olmedo/Hopper/Harris Dodgers need a Lh power bat, Reds need youth, defense, pitching, everyone's happy, what do you think? should teams pull the trigger on this one? |

Great post, zozo.
If I were the Dodgers, I'd definitely do a Dunn for Ethier and Tomko. Penny will be tough to trade (he's supposed to be the Dodgers' ace), and Billingsley is almost untradable. Dunn would be a really good addition to the Dodgers lineup. I think Ethier is still a mystery, and that's why I would be willing to give him up now for a proven HR hitter like Dunn. Ethier's numbers were really impressive, but his gigantic slump at the end of the season was very discouraging to the Dodgers. So the answer is yes, pull the trigger! |

I think this is too much power given up..Eithier may have power potential, but I would certainly like to see a 1B with Power come in return in the trade,
unless a bench player-OF can also be found....because if Griffey goes down again.. there aint much left.
