I saw this on the Orioles Board and thought it would be a fun thing
to do to generate some discussion on the Board. Pick your all time player at each position plus at least a couple more who could also be considered "all time best." 1B: Tony Perez Ted Kluzewski Lee May 2B:Bid McPhee Joe Morgan Ron Oester SS:Barry Larkin Dave Concepcion Tommy Corcoran 3B:Hick Carpenter Chris Sabo Heinie Groh C:Johnny Bench Ernie Lombardi Bubbles Hargrave OF:Pete Rose Vada Pinson Frank Robinson Edd Roush George Foster Gus Bell Ken Griffey Sr. Eric Davis SP:Eppa Rixey Tony Mullane Will White Jim Maloney Noodles Hahn Joe Nuxhall Gary Nolan Tom Browning RP:John Franco Clay Carroll Pedro Borbon Danny Graves Rob Dibble A lot of these players are from the early years of the Redlegs/Red Stockings but they all played a lot of years and had a lot success with the organization, as a whole. I have left off some players that were very successful with the team, but played only a short time with them. Some deserving mention include Dave Parker, Cesar Geronimo, Tommy Helms, Billy Hatcher, Johnny Van Der Meer and others as well. Of course it goes without mentioning it that the all time skipper of the Reds would have to be Sparky Anderson- the greatest all time manager in Major League Baseball(IMHO).
