White Sox agreed to terms with outfielder Scott Podsednik on a one-year, $2.9 million contract.

Scott Podsednik underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a groin injury and is set to miss the next six weeks.

This is supposed to correct some of the leg problems that have plagued him over the last three years. Still, time will tell if it will really help. When Podsednik isn't running at 100 percent, he's a liability in the starting lineup. The White Sox should give serious thought to making him a fourth outfielder unless he recovers very well this spring. The addition of Darin Erstad and the emergence of Josh Fields gives the team some alternatives in left field.
