Well we are winning tonight at least by three runs. Marquis has been impressive all season long.

I am predicting a sweep for once! The Cardinals have not been playing good at home and we need to kick it in the but now!

Ramirez, Pie help Marquis beat Cards

Right-hander gets second win in as many starts vs. former team

Jason Marquis benefitted from a four-run fourth in beating the Cards for a second straight time.

Quote:
ST. LOUIS -- Finally, an outfielder hit a home run, the Cubs won a close game, and Ryan Dempster picked up an old-fashioned save Friday night.

Best of all for the Cubs, Albert Pujols was standing on deck in the ninth inning, and didn't get a chance to hit.

Aramis Ramirez hit his fifth home run and rookie Felix Pie notched his first in the big leagues, both two-run shots, to lift the Cubs to a 5-3 nail-biting victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Jason Marquis (3-1) was the beneficiary. The right-hander, who beat his former teammates last Saturday in Chicago, did it again, giving up three runs on five hits -- including Yadier Molina's two-run homer in the seventh -- over 6 2/3 innings. Hopefully, the Cardinals won't hold it against him when they present Marquis with his 2006 World Series ring before Game 2 of this three-game series.

Cubs' bats come alive in St. Louis

Jacque Jones connects on a bases-clearing triple in the fifth inning.

Zambrano limits Cardinals to one run in seven innings

Quote:
ST. LOUIS -- Saturday's game went the way the Cubs had envisioned most of their games going this year, even if Jacque Jones couldn't keep track of everything going on.

Jones led off a seven-run fifth inning with a double, capped it with a three-run triple, and added an RBI single in the seventh to back Carlos Zambrano and give the Cubs an 8-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Jones entered the game with three RBIs in 20 games total. He matched that in two at-bats in the same inning.

Cubs-Cardinals game postponed

Quote:
ST. LOUIS -- Sunday night's game between the Cubs and Cardinals has been postponed following the death of St. Louis pitcher Josh Hancock. The game was scheduled for 7:05 CT.

Hancock, who pitched three innings in Saturday's game, an 8-1 Cubs win, was killed in an auto accident on westbound Highway 64/40 within the St. Louis city limits.

According to a statement issued by the Cardinals, St. Louis manager Tony La Russa informed Hancock's father of the news. Major League Baseball announced that Sunday's game between the two teams has been postponed.

Rest in Peace, Josh Hancock....truely a great loss to the game of baseball. My condolences go out to his family and the Cardinals organization.

Besides the news of Josh Hancock's death this was a pretty good series for the Cubs. We won two games, and both were in St. Louis!

Our offense was solid for once and the starting pitchers once again prooved their worth. It was finally nice to see Zambrano have a great game!
