Question Prior may not make rotation?

Quote:
Mark Prior wasn't sharp Monday. Former White Sox reliever Neal Cotts was, prompting Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella to remind folks that the battle for the final spot in the starting rotation is wide open.

Prior, Cotts and Wade Miller are considered the top candidates to round out the rotation.

''Everybody's getting the ball for the same amount of time here, and we'll let them compete," Piniella said. "At the end, we'll make a decision.''

Wow, this kind of suprises me, for some reason I thought Prior was an automatic lock, but this may not be the case.
After all all his injuries have held him back. I thought that he was a second coming of a Tom Seaver type player. He had one great season, but that's all....
Maybe it would actually be better for Mark to possibly come out the of the pen, but I'm not ready to give up for him to be a healthy starter for some reason

During the first spring training game Prior's fastball was only reaching the mid-80's.....That was the game he got lit up in

An update on Miller:
Yesterday's game saw Wade Miller pitch three innings, giving up one run and six hits, not that shabby.....anyway he beat Prior
