Default Bosh’s Free Throws Give Raptors Edge Over Bulls

Quote:
CHICAGO, Feb. 11 (AP)-- A sizable lead gone and the game slipping away, Chris Bosh reached up and helped the Toronto Raptors grab another victory.

Bosh hit two free throws with 2.1 seconds left after he was fouled on an offensive rebound Tuesday night as the Raptors recovered after blowing a 12-point, fourth-quarter lead to beat the Chicago Bulls 112-111.

"This shows how this team has turned it around," Bosh said. "Despite the breakdown at the end, we stood strong and still got out of here with a victory."

What a dissapointing end of the game. At the very least, the Bulls got screwed by the refs not checking to see how much time should have been on the clock for that last play. They had 2.1 seconds, and there should have been at least 3.8 seconds.

Default Big comeback, foul ending for Bulls

Quote:
Perhaps the Bulls were trying to make up for lost time—more on that later—at the United Center by staging one of their wilder finishes Tuesday night in their first home game since Jan. 27.

But they trudged off to play their eighth road game in nine overall Wednesday night in a foul mood, and more on that now.

Two calls—one made for Toronto, one not made for the Bulls—and a clock discrepancy left the Bulls hopping mad for reasons beyond seeing their 15-game winning streak over the Raptors snapped after the 112-111 heartbreaker.

Default Bulls run afoul of refs

Quote:
The Bulls had almost as many built-in excuses for their 112-111 loss Tuesday to the Toronto Raptors as there were empty seats at the United Center.

Tough turnaround from a seven-game road trip? Check.

A time-consuming commute to the arena because of the weather? Check.

Overdue for a loss to the Raptors, whom they had beaten 15 consecutive times? Check.

Default Raptors end jinx vs. Bulls

Quote:
CHICAGO–Chris Bosh and T.J. Ford are really just kids at heart, so as they're sitting around one day scripting the dramatic end to basketball games in their minds, they would come up with a familiar scenario.

Game on the line, player on the line, free throws to win or lose.

Seems the conversation they had a little while ago was quite prescient.

"I was talking to T.J. a couple of days ago and we were talking about game-winning free throws and he asked me if I think about it. I said, 'No, I just shoot,'" Bosh recounted. "He said, `Man, think about it.' I thought about making it and I stepped up and I made it."

Default Big win, that's no bull

Quote:
CHICAGO -- The Raptors were like the Starship Enterprise last night, boldly going where no Toronto team had gone before. At least not since Dec. 6, 2002.

That was the previous time Toronto had recorded a win against Chicago before embarking on a 15-game losing streak.

Last night, on the strength of big games by Chris Bosh, who sunk two free throws with 2.1 seconds left for the win, and Jose Calderon, the Raptors finally broke that streak, holding on for a 112-111 victory at the United Center -- although the outcome was in doubt until the last few seconds.
