I know this is kind of late to gauge interest in such a thing... but I have already drafted my potential deceased celebrities/athletes/politicians in the yearly contest I have with my old Army buddies.....
Would anyone be interested in submitting a list of 20 or 30 people to do one on here? The key is to try and make sure you do not have common picks with anyone else. Scoring is a base score of 100 for each person picked, which you then subtract that person's age from 100 to get your score if that person actually dies. All people picked must be in a national or worldwide spotlight. Just seeing if anyone is interested in such a 'taboo' game

Let's see... just a few comments
I am a fan of shocking picks, and picks that you can put into a 'yeah, I really want to see that person go'.... for example Martina Navratilova is pretty shocking. and lord knows about everyone wants to see Courtney Love bite the mortal big one (she is picked high most every year, but I have had her on my list 3 times and she has let me down, so I replaced her with Lindsay Lohan) I think Ali, Funicello, Minogue, and Hawking are really probable in combination of being able to score some points.... older celebs can be hit at about a 15-30% rate, but sometimes only get you a few points.... if you hit one of the ones in middle age, you have an advantage, and if one of the young long-shots makes it, you're sitting pretty..... my best long-shot pick of years gone bye was River Phoenix, who game me the title almost single-handedly in 1993 I've always had a few staples to how I make my picks.... 1) Fat guys on Saturday Night Live or comedians who started off big but have recently packed on a ton more weight 2) Taking multiple people born in the same year... for some reason I always seem to hit one of them at least when I do that... I rarely get one if they have a unique age on my list, unless they are a young shock pick 3) People who try suicide once, will probably succeed in the future 4) Multi-time rehab pays dividends eventually (Damn you though, Dave Mustaine.... you sold your soul to the devil and you were always a wasted pick for me... I mean c'mon, it's been about 14 times in rehab now) 5) Once they get Alzheimers, they forget to eat or take medicine or something, so the odds go up 6) The 27-and-dead-club... ALWAYS seems like someone famous joins it every year... hence my Britney Spears pick

I used to play this game with some guys at work and won two out of four years. People always say that it's morbid, etc., but I never helped anyone along.
I never delighted in anyone's death. (I'm sorry to say that there is one person whose demise will make me happy when it happens). But if it's going to happen, what's wrong with trying to predict it? I'll try to come up with a list. |

I'm not going to spend a couple of hours looking up ages. If they don't die, it doesn't matter. If they do, their age will be all over the place and it will be easy to tally the points. I'm also going to try and add a few new names.
Gsa Gsa Gabor Tina Turner Barry Bonds Rosalyn Carter William "The Refrigorator" Perry Tony Bennett George H.W. Bush Osama Bin Laden Queen Elizabeth II Elizabeth Taylor Frank Oz Leonard Nemoy John Daley Ted Nugent Rosie O'Donell Sam Waterson Roger Clemens Michael Caine Chuck Knoll Edward Kennedy |

Good news for French and ctjays.....I have the remedy for your ire with this thread. Whenever I look at a thread title which makes me conclude that I would not like, or would not be interested in the discussion, I take a radical approach. I don't open and read it. If the thread title leads me to believe that I might be interested or find merit in participating, but upon opening I disover that is not the case....my other radical remedy is to depart without posting and not return.
Now you two know of these secrets for coping with offensive threads and you won't ever have to enter and start pointless trouble again. |
