TSN calling Sabres/Rangers game from ice level

Continuing its leadership in sports television, TSN once again is on the cutting edge of hockey broadcasting becoming the first network ever to provide both play-by-play and analysis from ice level for an NHL game.

The landmark broadcast takes place Friday at 7:30pm et/4:30m pt featuring the New York Rangers facing the Buffalo Sabres from HSBC Arena in Buffalo, with Chris Cuthbert and Glenn Healy calling the action from between the benches.

''This ice level broadcast is another excellent example of TSN's forward-thinking approach to producing NHL telecasts,'' said Phil King, President, TSN. ''There are not many buildings in the NHL that are conducive to this type of telecast. However, HSBC Arena in Buffalo can accommodate two men at ice level and provides a perfect opportunity for TSN to showcase its leadership and try something unique, something that has never been done before in the NHL. As is the case with all of our initiatives, we will evaluate all aspects of the telecast post-game.''

That'll be cool to watch. But wouldn't they have a better view of the action from above?

Best news out of this is that another Sabres game is telecast in Toronto for me.

I didn't really notice that much of a difference, other than recognizing them between the benches and on the fly type interviews.
