Last nite, watching the O's broadcast, Thorne claimed that Mirabelli admitted to painting Schill's sock red, Yet Mirabelli has denied he ever said that.
So do you think it's fake or was that legit? I just don't believe that the Sox and Schill would be that desperate for for PR!!!

Why would Throne use Mirabelli as a source if that isn't what he told him? It doesn’t make sense that a journalist would damage there creditability like that over something like this. I can't stand Schilling and hate his personality so I am more inclined to believe he would do something like this for an effect.

It's been amazing to listen to these comments on the O's broadcast have now turned into a national controversy. Dale & Holley had Tito and the Doc (who did the procedure) on to rebuff this obsurd claim.
This whole thing seems to be worse, because of Mirabelli's expletive filled response saying that Thorne is "blank liar".

Mirabelli backpeddled today, saying that while he does not recall the conversation, he may have been ribbing Schilling good-naturedly in the clubhouse, when Thorne overheard something and misinterpreted it. Mirabelli says that he spoke to Thorne today and that Thorne's recollection was that Mirabelli said, "The bloody sock sure generated a lot of publicity." Thorne then apparently filled in his own blanks and interpreted this to mean that the sock had been painted.
Personally, I think Mirabelli is telling the truth here. Had he really told Thorne that the sock was a fraud, this would have been front page news the very next day. Yet apparently this conversation occurred almost two years ago. Why stay quiet for two years and then come up with this now? Also, I think the people at the Hall of Fame would be able to tell rather quickly whether the sock had paint or blood in it. The Hall of Fame could even test for it. Thorne was looking to fill time on the air (Remy and Orsillo do this too by going into prolonged gigglefests) and he decided to embellish something that Mirabelli told him off-hand two years ago. I strongly doubt that Mirabelli would be dumb enough to throw Schilling under the bus like that even if the paint story were true. According to Mirabelli, Thorne will distance himself from last night's remarks and will announce that he misinterpreted what he heard. |

The only question I have still at this point, is why 2 years later, does something like this get dropped so non-challontally(sp?).
As I heard on ESPN tonite, how do you get from point A to point B??

It is most definitely blood - it is ridiculous to the extreme to imagine schilling paintng his sock before the biggest game of his life! Can you imagine if he pitched poorly?
I've seen the sock in the BB HOF and it is not paint. I'm familiar with both blood and paint. It's blood. |

It's ridiculous that anyone would think that this would be fake, I mean I don't care what kind of glory hound you are, why for someone who is so aware of his place in history, jeopardize the respect and authenticity of the sport he loves so much.
