Sox 12-7,1st in the AL East
O's 11-9, 2nd in the AL East, 2 games back. Boston will be throwing Schilling (3.81 ERA) and Beckett (2.55 ERA) vs. Daniel Cabrera (4.10 ERA) and Adam Loewen (3.72 ERA). Baltimore has a kickass bullpen. I think the Sox have the advantage in this series, but they really need to get to the starters. O's don't have a Halladay to throw at the Sox, so that's good. For that other team - I think Pettitte goes tonight, so the Sox will miss him, which will be an advantage to them over the weekend. |

Sox definately have the advantage over my O's... though I think the pitching matchups fall about right for the O's, I think the big issue will be the inconsistency of the O's lineup

umpire is interjecting himself into this game, Lugo argues a call, and then the stupid ump tells Cab to pitch, while Lugo wasn't in the box, causing a perfect strike to be thrown.

Apparently a ball still counts as a homerun even if it gets knocked around the field for awhile, provided that it never touches the ground before going over the fence. We all remember the homerun that bounced off Canseco's head. The Rios play was twice as bad because he fumbled the ball twice. As I type this, Ramirez gets robbed of a possible homerun on a great catch by Corey Patterson. The wind was blowing in strong from center and Ramirez's ball looked like it would have cleared the centerfield fence by maybe an inch or two. Patterson caught up to it and made a nice grab. It's a shame he couldn't get a homerun there. He needs to be more productive. The story of the game, of course, has been Curt Schilling. 7 innings of 1 run ball on a night where we needed to end a disappointing losing streak. You can't ask for much more out of your ace. |

It was.
Boston Red Sox, Alex Rios, Alex Cora, Roy Halladay, Major League Baseball, Toronto Blue Jays - CBS SportsLine.com Another wierd thing: That game was started by Halladay.. and the Red Sox pitcher? Julian Tavarez. So, Tavarez has started 9 games for the Red Sox. And three of them he drew Halladay. Once he got RJ. Once he got Millwood. Man - for a 5th starter, Tavarez has drawn some top flight freaking talent. Last edited by AutomatedTeller; 04-25-2007 at 10:36 PM. |

Fun game
Interesting - until this game, the season was very similar for Beckett as last years - 3 strong starts and a mediocre one. Last year, his fifth start was a disaster - 3 IP, 8 R or something like that. He was better tonight So, who's the MVP tonight? Beckett or WMP? |
