Red Sox with a 6-run outburst in the 1st inning.

Old friend Orlando Cabrera with a solo homerun for Los Angeles.

Vladimir Guerrero left the game after being hit by a pitch. Both sides were warned.

Julio Lugo with some terrific defense so far.

David Ortiz goes deep to dead center for his fourth homerun of the year. 7-1 Red Sox.

Red Sox take this game by a comfortable 7-2 margin. Josh Beckett (3-0) surrendered 1 run over 6 innings. Okajima pitched a scoreless 7th. Romero pitched a scoreless 8th. Snyder gave up a solo shot to Howie Kendrick in the 9th.

While Beckett's pitching line looks impressive, I think Julio Lugo saved him a couple times with Gold Glove-caliber defensive plays to end potential rallies. Lugo also showed up with the bat, leading off the game with a rally-starting double.

No Wally talk today. The focus was on a pizza attack that occurred along the third baseline. On a foul pop to shallow left, Garret Anderson collided with some fans who were also going for the ball. The impact of Anderson's glove sent beer flying all over the place, most of it drenching a fan in a black jacket. A few seconds later, a guy sitting a few seats away threw an entire slice of pizza at the fan's neck. It landed cheese-side down on the man's shoulder and then fell in front of him onto the railing. At first, Remy and Orsillo couldn't figure out what the pizza was, or where it came from, but they were able to get a different angle on the replay and found that a guy in a Patriots jacket sitting about four seats away was the culprit. He went into a full pitching motion and just uncorked a fastball, er fastpizza, right into the man's neck and shoulder. This led to one of those patented Remy/Orsillo gigglefests which lasted for about two innings. Instead of following the game, the NESN camera focused on the fan drenched in beer and cheese pizza, motioning for his attacker to take him on 1 on 1. The pizza-thrower was eventually ejected from the game, and we were then treated to close-ups of the pizza, and various jokes about CSI and the Zapruder film. Remy commented that he'd just eat the slice of pizza anyway, and Orsillo chortled as he confessed to eating food that had been contaminated with much worse.

Pizza guy was on EEI tonight, or at least he said he was the pizza throwing guy. His story was that the guy he threw it at was being a dope and kept saying stuff like "where'd you get that pizza" and "I want some pizza". So he waited until the guy wasn't looking and threw him some pizza.

The pizza throwing guy (named Jim, I think it was) said he was the victim.
