and facing Ichiro he got ahead early 0-2, and after 3 straight balls, and then Ichiro slaps the ball back to Dice K who feilds it and throws him out.

Dice-K looked good.

This could be an amazing game.

It's hard to be *mad* that the Sox lost when a guy is throwing like that...

but shutout twice in 8 games? That's too much. The Sox were supposed to be able to get off to a fast start. They are at .500.

I just got back from the game and had a pretty good time, despite the inability of our offense to score anything off Hernandez. In the 8th inning, I found myself almost hoping for a no-hitter because at least that way the loss would be historical and I could say I attended a no-hitter in person. (I've already seen a triple play in person, which remains one of the highlights of my "career" as a live baseball spectator.)

J.D Drew broke up the no-no in the 8th with a scorching hard liner up the middle, although I think the umpire may have made a bad call on a groundball to second earlier in the game (I thought Sexson's foot left the bag on a late throw by Lopez, which would have made it a hit for the Red Sox, giving them a whopping total of 2.)

Felix Hernandez just pitched a spectacular game. I can't get too angry at the Red Sox for not hitting this guy. He might be the best starting pitcher in baseball. We need to remember that he only surrendered 2 hits in his first start as well, so we're not alone in our futility against this future Cy Young Award winner. He simply has filthy stuff and makes anyone look silly. He's a pleasure to watch and Mariners fans are fortunate to have him. Even my daughter who normally prefers offense seemed mesmerized by his pitching.

MVP of the Game -

LVP of the Game -

I can't really single any one player out. The entire offense failed.
