After two outs in the top of the 1st:

Ortiz with a walk.
Ramirez with a single.
Drew with an RBI double, scoring Ortiz, Ramirez to third.

Good stuff tonight. Beckett pitched very well, surrendering just 2 hits and 1 run over 5 innings. J.D Drew contributed with both his bat and glove. Ramirez got on base three times. Kevin Youkilis hit the first homerun of the year - a deep blast to right-center against the wind. Lopez, Snyder, Romero and Piniero all got it done out of the bullpen.

The only negative was Mike Lowell's atrocious defense. He had the first three error game of his career. Quite surprising for a Gold Glover. In 2006, he only had 6 errors the entire season, and now in one game, he's reached half of that annual total. I'm not sure what happened to him tonight. It was just one of those fluky occurrences that I'm sure won't be repeated.

It was surprising to see Terry Francona lift Ramirez for a pinch-hitter in the 9th inning. I know we had a 7-1 lead, I just find it odd that Wily Mo Pena is getting at-bats at the expense of the 4-5 hitters (in Game 1, he pinch hit for Drew.) I'd rather see Pena pinch-hit for Crisp, and maybe get Hinske an at-bat for Lowell or Varitek at the end of games.

We're within half a game of first place!
