1st base- Youks = .270/350/about 18 Hr's and 70RBI
2nd base- Pedroia= .280/320/about 8HR and 60RBI SS- CORA?= forget it- no stats worth mentioning 3B- Lowell= .270/.305 20Hr and 75RBI LF- MANNY? or are we just dumb enough to trade him? .300/.330/ 35HR 120RBI CF- COCO= .280/.330 about 14HR and 60RBI RF- PENA/HINSKE= .267/.300 about 22HR / 80RBI C- Tek= .269/.340/abou 16HR 70RBI DH- Papi .280/.360 HR's about 45 RBI about 130... (IF MANNY IS HERE) Papi .268/.350 HR's about 32 RBI about 113... (IF MANNY IS GONE and DREW REPLACES HIM) DREW's stats if he comes to Boston: .290/.340 about 18HR and 85RBI in 108 games. I am not too thrilled with the offensive prospects of this team if we trade Manny.... WHY the sox would even think about it with Drew's asking price is beyond me.... but I guess when you find out that your lover (manny) wants to sleep in anohter's bed (Trade demand) you cannot get over it, even if you know for a fact that they have not been unfaithful.... RIGHT THEO? |

I assume the 2nd number is OBP? If Manny is gone, I would expect Papi's HR and RBI totals to go down, but his walks to skyrocket, and thus his OBP to be over .400.
I would be surprised if Youks OBP was that low, and I think Coco will have a good season - .290-.310 BA with an OBP between .350 and .370. I do agree that without manny, the Sox offense won't be that great. |

Right now I don't trade Manny unless a killer offer comes along. His contract is perfectly reasonable, the remaining years are nice, and the production has always been there.
I'm worrying a bit about that knee though. Was there plans for Manny to have it examined/operated on this offseason? |

DID you guys read the report on JD Drew.... the one Edes did where prior teammates said he was a slacker... where Edes said that one Dodger teammate made jubilant calls after he opted out... where the book 3 nights in August was quote... and where colletti made a remark about Drew not wanting to play in LA ( for a mear $11mil+ incentives a year)..... That article...
The reason I am asking is did anyone realize that Last month we all heard the speculation about how Manny was faking it.... one of the local pundits actually "claims" to have discussed patellar tendonitis... with a Doctor... then made his entire case for Manny having faked it on the fact that this Dr said that the malady was a two week at most problem...... This latest little ditty by EDES has a couple of paragraphs in it talking about Drew's worst DL visit.... for "PATELLAR TENDONITIS".... and he said that he wasn't right for 2 + years and thathe had to have surgery to get right.... UMM what happened to the TWO WEEK MALADY? Moreso.... Why would we want to hire someone who had this problem before if it is just a "QUITTERS EXCUSE"? I am just so damned tired of the Boston Media blowing things out of proportion. Now they have Schilling saying that Manny wants out.... WHO CARES?.... he is the best option we have for offense... I was looking at the "rumored" Manny + Cash for Peavy/Linebrink/Gonzales deal..... I think the sox coule make this one work... especially if theo was able to send Peavyand others to the rangers for Texieira... I have heard rumors that he is avail (only in the right deal). Would a top pitcher + some prospects.... maybe get a look? |
