Congratulations Red Sox fans. I wanted my Mets to sign Julio Lugo, so I am a bit disappointed. But, at least Lugo signed with a team I like.

I had a feeling Lugo was gonna be a Red Sox and now you also got Drew so it should be another good season between the Yankees and Red Sox.

I think that $9 mil/year is pretty high, but I think that... in the end... they needed it.

Could be. $9M, 4 yrs is just about what they paid Renteria - who has very similar career numbers. That didn't work out so well...

Neither of these signings is picking up Bill Mueller or Kevin Millar.

I don't think paying 9$ Million a year is overpaying Lugo.

If he performs like he did as a Dodger and the Sox keep him at one spot, he'll help them out like CRAZY.

Lugo at 9 mil sounds right especially considering the prices being paid this year. Additionally, salaries will not likely go down and in a couple of years 9 mil for a top SS who can hit may sound cheap.

well, top SS? He's good, but... he had an OPS of .762 last year. That places him 11th in the majors... below Edgar "underachiever" renteria. Lugo is ok and will help the offense... but he's not a top offensive SS. $9M seems like a lot.

when A-Gon gets 5 per year.... 9 per isnt all that bad for someone like Lugo, and look at the other options.... um, there is ..................

I think Lugo should hit 2nd in the order an Youk should hit 1st.

For what it's worth, i heard terry on EEI talking about teh lineup with Lugo and Drew, and he mentioned this order:

Youkilis
Lugo
Papi
Manny
Drew
Lowell/Tek/Crisp in some order
Pedroia

So, am guessing Lugo bats 2nd.
