PADRES PUT CLAIM ON IGAWA | By GEORGE KING | New York Yankees

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/11/sp...l?ref=baseball

The Yanks are unlikely to give away a guy they paid tens of millions in posting fees, but he obviously hasn't worked for them. I don't expect Igawa to move before the season, but this will lay the groundwork for Kei Igawa to move and places the Padres clearly in the interested column.

Igawa is owed 16M$ over four years after the completion of the year.

I wonder if Seattle would have claimed him, they were the next team to get that opportunity if the Padres hadn't.

KENNEDY COULD START VS. BIRDS | By GEORGE KING | New York Yankees

News out of NYC is that the Yanks aren't willing to give up on Igawa yet.
