Wow if Chicago gets Schmidt they just owned the FA market this year with Soriano and Schmidt. Not to mention ridding themselves of Dusty Baker.

The Cubs are looking pretty good ad it is through in Schmidt and dam u got a great team especially if Derek Lee can have at least close to a year as he did 2 years ago when some people thought he had a shot at winniing the triple crown

Schmidt would be a great acquistion for the Cubs. Imagine the top 3 in their rotation if, and I know it is a huge if, Prior comes back healthy and regains form.

Not to mention Rich Hill who did a pretty good job for them last year. With this acquisition, I love their lineup and starters but their bullpen doesn't blow me away.

With all the money they are spending, they will be good for the next 2-3 years but after that who knows. Zambrano is also a free agent after next season, so the Cubs need to save some money to re-sign him.

Jason Schmidt would be a very nice signing by the Cubs. If the Cubs do in fact sign Schmidt, and he remains healthy along with the other Cubs starting pitchers, that is an impressive starting rotation.
