A third could be coming shortly as the Orioles are in the process of finalizing a three-year deal with New York Mets right-handed reliever Chad Bradford... The club has been in touch with the representatives of free-agent outfielders Jay Payton, Cliff Floyd, Trot Nixon, Aubrey Huff and Jose Guillen among others, but at this point, the Orioles haven't made a concrete offer to any of them, according to industry sources.
This is greatly helping the O's chance of competing with red soxs yankees and tronto but is it good enough???????? |

It's not even close.
The Orioles haven't really done a whole heck of alot to improve themselves. They've pretty much just thrown money at mediocre players. They may improve by a few wins, but that'll be about it. They continue to be one of the worst run teams in baseball.

The Orioles bullpen will certainly be better but they're still nowhere close to the Yankees or even the Sox after they sign Matsuzaka and finish their offseason.
I can't believe how much money Baez got. He's above average but nothing better than that. Walker is a pretty good lefty and Bradford would be a very big acquisition if he can repeat his 2006 performance. As a Mets fan, I'm sad to see him go but I also question whether he can be as good as he was last year. He's been inconsistent throughout his career. They could really use a bonafide Ace. If they got that they'd take a big step. |
