Orioles, Roberts Close on Contract

Washington Post (registration required): "The Baltimore Orioles are close to signing second baseman Brian Roberts to a one-year, $4.2 million contract, thereby avoiding arbitration, according to one source close to the negotiations... One Orioles source said the Colorado Rockies approached Baltimore several weeks ago about the possibility of trading for first baseman Todd Helton, who was recently rumored to be headed to the Boston Red Sox."

Roberts is a very good player, little guy who can run. I wish he could play 3rd base though.

I think Roberts would be able to play 3rd but if he did move to third a couple of things would happen his value would go down because more good 3rd basemen then 2end basemen and i think his deffensive play might go down just for a seaon or two then go back up.

So i think he should just stay were he is he will have a great career maybe a HOF career but again who knows still early

Roberts is not a HOF player though, unless he has 60 steals a season over the next 10 seasons and hits above .320

He probaly wont get in the HOF if he does it would have to do with either his hits or SBs
