Baldelli, who is on the 60-day disabled list with a mitochondrial disorder that has kept him in a constant state of fatigue, has not played since last May. Under the terms of the long-term contract he signed after the 2005 season, the Rays had until April 1 to decide whether to pick up his $6 million option for the 2009 season. By declining the option, Tampa Bay must pay him $4 million, and Baldelli will become a free agent at the end of the 2008 season.

If healthy, he's a solid defensive OF with a nice mix of offensive skills.

His FA value depends entirely on his chronic fatigue issues though.

his injury plagued caereer is also an issue. Leg problems time and time again. He also has not wowwed at the plate when he has been able to suit up and play. Very disappointing.

Didn't Bobby Ingram follow up a season that he basically missed for a similar conditition with his best season ever?

Hell, why not bring up another former Ray prospect/player: Josh Hamilton

Injuries, drug programs... and look at him NOW.

I wouldn't write him off... But with fatigue issues, leg issues, his durability is very suspect.
