Default Greg Maddux to San Diego?

Quote:
FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal is backing down from his earlier report saying Greg Maddux was near a deal with the Padres. Agent Scott Boras is still looking for a better offer.
Quote:
Apparently, neither the Padres nor the Dodgers is willing to guarantee Maddux a second year, though Maddux is a better bet to stay healthy than most of the younger guys who will end up receiving three- and four-year deals. Rosenthal says a decision by Maddux is expected Tuesday and that the Padres are believed to be his first choice.
Per Rotoworld:

Maddux to SD not a done deal

Greg Maddux would be a nice addition to the San Diego Padres starting rotation.

Well, it is official, Greg Maddux has signed with the San Diego Padres.

Quote:
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Greg Maddux and the San Diego Padres reached agreement Tuesday night on a $10 million, one-year contract.

The deal for the four-time Cy Young Award winner contains a $7 million player option for 2008, a person familiar with the negotiations said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The option includes provisions based on innings that could raise the value to about $10 million
Maddux agrees to 1-year, $10M deal with Padres

Nice signing by the Padres.

yeah that is a nice signing by the Padres. I know Maddux isn't who he was 10 years ago, but still Peavy and Maddux #1 and #2 is pretty good.

yeah you're probably right. Chris Young will probably be #2 unless the Padres land another starter.
