ESPN is reporting that the Rays are chasing Geoff Jenkins as a replacement for Delmon Young.

Baldelli is an injury liability. You can't bank on a player who may only play a quarter of the season.
Gomes is another story -- the guy is able to play like Charlie Hustle sometimes but then totally disintigrates. His first season with the Rays was great, his second was injury plagued and instead of going onto the DL -- he played through it and played poorly at that. His third? Demoted and promoted --rinse and repeat -- during the season. He would play very well upon his callup and then settle back into the quality of play that got him demoted to begin with -- strikeouts, lack of plate discipline, etc. The Rays lack a true veteran presence in the lineup... I know that Jenkins hasn't played up to past production but the truth is his career isn't over and he could lend some leadership the Rays sorely lack.
