Awesome, that would suck to have such a long last name though
On a side note Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger also has 14 letters in his last name ![]()

Berman, in his haste to come up with a nickname for the kid (and amidst at least 3 mispronunciations of said name), forgot the best one -- his minor-league teammates called Salty "Pits," because his name on the back of his uniform stretched from one armpit to the other.

What is the longest name in baseball history?
I can think of another player with 20 letters. He, to my knowledge, did not use a common shortening of his name. He had to have known his name length was his best way to fame, if you can call this fame. Can anyone find one with 21 letters? Can anyone name my mystery player? |

A couple of possible records came to mind tonight.
---------- Two games on 5/09, in which the four starting pitchers have a combined 1,031 wins (Moyer, Johnson, Smoltz, Maddux). ----------- Also, there is a possibility of a really odd situation later this season. Sosa's first career HR was off Clemens, and he now has nearly 600. Later this season, if he connects again of Clemens, it could be two homers off the same pitcher, with 600 homers in between. |
