I hit more home runs than Joe Medwick, Roberto Clemente, Hack Wilson and Kirby Puckett.

I had 500 AB in a season only three times.

I once finished 6th in the league in fewest AB/HR, but then never hit 20 HR in a season again.

I was once a teammate of Jesse Orosco's.

Answer:

It was the forgettable career of Jose Valentin. A decent player that always fell under the radar. He even hit 30 HR as a shortstop once, and topped 20 HR six times. Not bad for an utter no-name that most fans wouldn't be able to recognize in a lineup.
