Default Troy Smith

Is it time for the Ravens to give Smith a shot at QB?

I know Boller is coming off a pretty solid performance against the Pats, but I think it's about time to give the rookie a chance to run the offense.

Thoughts?

I think he is still a work in progress... nowhere near ready to be under center... Boller is the best option right now, and he needs to be given the chance over Troy, if Boller is to be giver a chance of keeping the reigns in 2008

Troy will get a chance to prove if he is good enough to become a true backup next year... if he is not... the Ravens will go after either a true backup QB or a QB to battle Boller for the starting job... or they may take a high draft chance at someone to watch on the sidelines under Boller, to take over in 2009.. I think Smith plays out his contract as a #3 QB at best... to probably leave the NFL shortly after that... unless a combination of a fluky set of injuries forcing him to start, and extremely fluky luck actually giving him NFL success....

Agreed, Troy Smith is not ready to be a starting QB in the NFL yet...I seen a little bit of him this week in the Dolphins game....He showed some flashes, but he has a lot to learn about being a QB in the NFL.

With that said Boller is the logical choice to be the QB for the Ravens, definetly not Steve McNair.

Troy Smith hasn't shown much at all this week. I wouldn't be the future on the Heisman winner

9/21 for 61 yards passing and 5 for 23 rushing and he has 2 fumbles in his first three quarters

He's nothing impressive... a bit mobile.. nothing more... he'll still get a shot at #3 QB next year, naturally, but I really do not think he has a future as a starter in the NFL

I was really amazed as the radio crew for the Seahawks kept praising Smith's decision making. Why?

There was some hype on the broadcast I had listened to... basically on the very first drive he came in on... but after that, it quickly went away...

I really did not see anything positive but his scrambling
