Default Carlos Lee

The Orioles are one of the finalist in the bidding for Carlos Lee. It was reported that the Astros increased their offer to 5 years and 74 million. The Orioles are reported to have offered 6 years and between 80-90 million. The dark horse is the Phillies, Pat Gillick wanted Soriano bad but was taken back by the Cub's offer. He may be waiting in the shadows for Lee. Lee is expected to make a decision by this weekend.

If the Orioles miss out on Lee they could go after Drew.

Getting Lee would do wonders for the Orioles in several ways. It would be good for the team, the Fans and the FO. I hope we get him.

Wow, that's a lot of money for Lee.

Drew would probably be a better option for the O's. Don't forget he's had like 4 years of 1000+ OPS...

I was watching ESPNEWS today and they said that Carlos Lee visited the Houston Astros today and he is "very optimistic" about the situation. The speculation was that he is now currently in negotiations with the Astros on a multi-year contract. Stay tuned.

Well if they did offer that kind of contract to Lee, they got the years right. But a little off on the money. I think Lee should have been more around what you guys offered him.

You're right. Houston overpaid. But hey, it seems that every team is doing that this year. They need offense, and they got it in the form of Carlos Lee. No one posts on the Astros board it seems so I actually posted the story of him signing on their board.

If we can get J.D. Drew for a reasonable price, I would still be content. Really I want to see us get Barry Zito more than anyone else.

Not only would that give us a VERY good rotation with Zito, Bedard, Cabrera, Wright, and Loewen (yes, that would be THREE lefties); but it would make Kris Benson expendable, meaning we could trade him for a top-notch middle reliever and perhaps a mid-level prospect too.

Maybe the tribes were harmonious and you were erroneous.

Drew is looking like a Red Sox right now. And at an unreasonable price.

So I've heard, so I've heard....

Looks like we're not getting any big bats this offseason, which may be for the better since they're getting entirely too much pay. Still, I guess this means we can focus more money on trying to sign Zito, assuming they're still going after him.

If you don't get Drew consider it an upgrade to the team. He is a cancer to any team that he plays for. He is a great player, but his "all about me and the moeny" personallity ruins all the benefits you will get from him.

I really do not expect any Big Splash signing for the O's.... maybe a trade getting farm hlep, but I doubt we are attractive to any big name FA right now

I dont think Carlos Lee is worth the money & he is terrible in the
outfield. The addition of Huff will help the offense.
