Default M.Tejada places batting average over home runs

Fantasy Tip « Global Baseball

Quote:
For what it’s worth, Miguel Tejada no longer considers himself a home run hitter, preferring to rack up hits in pursuit of a high batting average. He’s been working hard to improve his hitting the other way as opposed to swinging for the fences, he told the Listin Diario.

Just what we need from the person slotted to be our cleanup hitter... granted he is a good to great hitter for average.... but it would be nice to have at least SOME focus on some power from a person hitting 4th

As the cleanup hitter, TEJADA can't completely abandon the long ball. With a team that hits as few homers as the O's he's going to have to find his power stroke. HUFF, GIBBONS, and hopefully MARKAKIS will all have to contribute to the power department IMO!

Well if things go our way this year, I think we'll see decent power numbers through our lineup. Not great, but decent.

Roberts: 10-25
Mora: 10-20
Markakis: 20-25
Tejada: 20-25
Huff: 30-40
Gibbons: 20-30
Hernandez: 10-20
Patterson: 15-25

Payton: 5-15
Bako: 1-5
Gomez: 3-8

Huff has only hit more than 30 once in his career.... and that was when he was a bit better in the batting skills department than what he has become now... ain't no way he hits between 30 and 40....

Payton and his horrible hitting skills may not have him hit 15 extra base hits in total... anywhere close to 15 HR for him would be a miracle deserving of biblical mention... we have to remember that this is Baltimore and not Coors field (the only place Payton has had any hitting success)

We'll be close to the bottom of the league in terms of team HRs
