Default No real news over the past few days. What gives?

Not even so much as another rumor after the whole Gonzo thing.... The only talk I am hearing is that the O's want a LF... well, IMHO they let maybe the best one who was affordable get away in the FA period in Guillen (some may not like him but I think he had potential that could have been signed fairly cheap in terms of this year's market)... Who are we going to go after??? Stewart? I hope not. Preston Wilson? But how much will that cost?

I just do not see a real good fit for the O's

I'm not too worried about things yet, because I have a feeling we'll end up getting a pretty solid Left Fielder in return for Rodrigo Lopez.

I'd give Rodrigo Lopez up for a half eaten Twinkie

The Orioles, searching for a right-handed-hitting outfielder, need to expand their search beyond Luis Gonzalez who was offered a deal by the Dodgers. Orioles executive vice president Jim Duquette told the Baltimore Sun that the club is, “moving forward on some other options.” Sources tell the Sun that a proposed three-way deal with Houston and Detroit for Marcus Thames hit a roadblock and that only a three-way deal would land Thames. The Orioles are also considering Jay Payton who sources say could be offered a two-year deal worth $4.5 million each season.

Thames would be interesting... and not TOO old (Will be 30 during the season)...

I could not see going after the 34 year old Payton, who really has never been anything (outside of Colorado) and will probably never be anything

Has us ranked currently at 25... with the following statement that I agree with

25) Baltimore Orioles: Spending $41 million on middle relief really isn't the answer.

I'm still excited about next year though, our only real glaring weakness last year was the bullpen, which looks to be superb next year.

Our rotation was nothing special, but it should be pretty good this year, what with Bedard, Benson, Cabrera, Wright, and Loewen. The missing link is a power-hitting left-fielder, which will come eventually, even if it's not until next off-season.
