Not again ... Oh well, the action won't change at all, just the dumb name. It would be nice to have a name stay a long time, I am still calling it Winston Cup, instead of Nextel Cup. Sprint Cup does sound cooler though. ![]()

"Sprint Cup" is too confusing. There is an entire race car segment in the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) for sprint cars.
I could understand changing the cup's name the first time (because the cigarette brand being the cup sponsor is not PC) but the name they chose, and now that name's replacement are hienious. You want a name that people are going to associate with NASCAR. "Winston Cup" did it, "Nextel Cup" was just starting to catch on (at least with me)... Sprint Cup? Ugh. Will never trump Stanley Cup, or the Lombardi Trophy in trophy/sport recognition.

Yeah Sprint Cup does sound like sprint car racing, that was also my first thought.
But Sprint Cup:Race for the Chase does sound sort of cool I guess. I hate to say it, but hardly any name will beat Winston Cup, but NASCAR had to get away from it because of the whole cigarette association and I applaud them for that. Wished they would have sticked to Nextel like you said John, it was beginning to catch on.
