Default Dale Jr. and DEI part ways

Quote:
Dale Earnhardt Jr., whose contract expires in 2007, is meeting with DEI competition director Richie Gilmore and DEI president Max Siegel on Wednesday. Owner Teresa Earnhardt will not be at the meeting in order to keep emotions at a minimum, according to Gilmore.

Earnhardt Jr. has said he would like a greater stake in DEI, which is the major determining factor in contract negotiations.

All this is about is Dale Jr. wanting a bigger stake in the company. Teresa better be careful because I don't think it will take him much more to leave. I think I heard a rumor RCR wants him.

Quote:
The latest on the Dale Earnhardt Jr. saga: The “Robert Yates” NASCAR brand will remain a Ford brand, even in any merger with Dale Earnhardt Inc., according to sources familiar with the Yates-DEI negotiations. However Earnhardt, who has been the heart of DEI, insisted he will be in Chevrolets again next season, no matter what. Those two facts make the DEI-Yates negotiations peculiar, particularly since Earnhardt has been negotiating a new contract with DEI owner Teresa Earnhardt, with Dale Earnhardt Jr. demanding controlling interest in DEI. If DEI officials are negotiating a possible switch to Ford, then Earnhardt would clearly appear to be not involved with those talks. Which would mean if Yates and DEI do come to terms, it would almost certainly be a Yates-DEI merger without Earnhardt in the mix. There has been rampant speculation the past few days that Earnhardt may be moving to either Richard Childress’ Chevy team or Rick Hendrick’s Chevy team.

I am a Ford fan myself but could anyone see Jr. ever leaving Chevy?

ESPN just repored at the tail end of Sportscenter, that tommorrow at 11 am ET, a major announcement will be made from the garages/offices of DEI . At least that's where I think they said, my daughter wouldn't shuptup so I may have screwed up that part.

I heard tonite on local news in TN, that JR will be announcing he is leaving DEI at the end of this season and will be taking with him the Budweiser Sponership, the Busch Car, and Martin Truex Jr will follow him. Also rumor that he will be using Hendrick Motor Sports Engines in the 08 season.

Stunning turn of events if this true.

Yeah it is. I am not a Junior fan, but I am very anxious to see what happens. If he starts up his own team in Nextel Cup, he will be farther away from a championship than he was with DEI.

Yes maybe true, but DEI willl be irrelevant with out JR. that company was started by SR for his Kids not his Wife. Teresa irrates the hell out of me.

I'm as sick of her as I am Tony Stewart

Teresa is a clown. If Truex goes along with Junior, who is DEI gonna have? Paul Menard?

1 thing I am not getting sick of is the feud between Kasey Kahne and Stremme.

It is official - he is leaving DEI at season's end.

He will be looking for a new team to drive for, and as of right now, he has no announcements to make about that.

And ESPN sucks, they barely televised the Presser. And of course there is no where to even get the audio of the presser.

Not surprised he's leaving - was only a matter of time

Junior will test the open market. Bob Dilner from Speed said that if the 18 team's performance does not change, that there could be something there with Junior.

I think he ends up at Gibbs.

Quote:
FOX8 News has confirmed Junior is negotiating late Thursday night with Richard Childress to join Richard Childress Racing. An announcement could come as early as Friday. Childress has scheduled a news conference Friday at Darlington Raceway, the site of Saturday's Nextel Nextel Cup race. Sports Director Rich Brenner has also confirmed the talks between Junior and Childress include plans for Earnhardt driving the #33 Chevrolet for RCR. Budweiser, the primary sponsor for Junior's #8 car with DEI, will follow him to his new race team.

Jr's going to switch numbers; imagine all that out of date merchandise now. Any chance he will drive the #3 because that number is still owned by RCR.

Childress denied that report.

And if you are a conspiracy theorist, yesterday's impounding of the #8 could be a direct result of a very pissed Teresa. I'm sure she has influence over someone on the #8 crew and could have rigged it so Junior gets screwed from here to the end of the season. Women are very spiteful when angered and I think Teresa has more than enough moxey to try and pull this sort of vengeful act.
