Last year, I told a buddy of mine that JJ was a top 5 guard in the league. He laughed.
JJ *really* impressed me when he came to Staples last year. I had seen him many times on tv, but in person, I noticed how much he does on the court. JJ is very versatile. He is extremely big (6-7') and strong. He can take players off the dribble with ease. Scouts say he has a slow first step, but I disagree. He is a very good jump shooter from anywhere on the court. And on defense, he is above average. People criticize him because of his high TO, but a bad team with bad players contribute to more TO. His Hawks team this year is better than last year's. His TOs this year would be down, regardless of the switch in position. Surround him with a couple more good players, and you got yourself a superstar. Btw- some think that if he hadn't missed the playoff games for the Suns, the Suns would have won two years ago. I didn't then, but I might agree with it today. |
