don't know where he's going to hit yet," Chipper Jones said. "But hitting him in the four or five hole, you're pushing everybody down a spot. Now you've got a guy like Kelly Johnson, who is hitting .290 with a ton of extra-base hits hitting eighth and you've got Jeff Francoeur, who is leading the team in RBIs hitting seventh
Its what hcipper suggests but still its sooo moronic to play Willie at leadoff and KJ 8th. The Official Site of The Atlanta Braves: News: Atlanta Braves News |

Yup, he should be leading off (full time!) with Willie/Diaz 8th.

I'm guessing that Teixeira will bat 5th, with Bobbles hoping that will force pitchers to throw better stuff to Andruw. Not sure that would make a difference, though. I don't know what the answer is for KJ, but it sure is nice to see a strong lineup from top to bottom. I wouldn't mind KJ batting 6th and putting "free-swingin'" Frenchy in the eighth spot.

WH
KJ ER CJ MT BM JF AJ PITCHER Do we really care about hurting AJ's feelings as he will let Boras do his talking this offseason??? Also of note: We have 4 everyday players with at least a .300 b.a.!! Last edited by jecqua; August 1st, 2007 at 12:08 PM. |

Seriously, Harris hit what, .230 in July? And that's including a 6-hit game. Take that out and it's more like .160. He had a nice freakish little good stretch, but now he's turned back into the same bad hitter he's been his entire career.
1. KJ 2. Rent 3. Chip 4. Tex 5. Mac 6. Andruw 7. Frenchman 8. Willie/Diaz 9. Pitcher

Agreed, Snow. I really think Harris' PAs should taper off quickly, even against RHP; Diaz is clearly the better option in LF, but I could handle the platoon situation if both hit #8.
Harris has speed, and that is about it. Even if Diaz's discipline is not any better, when he swings he has demonstrated that he is much more likely to make good contact and obtain a hit. Last edited by jpx7; August 2nd, 2007 at 03:24 AM. Reason: "is" is not "if" |

Well, speed and baserunning skills are two separate things. A guy who has the former but not the latter can still leg out more base hits, stretch into an extra base more often, and go from 1st to third more often.
Not that that makes him particularly valuable in the case of an average Willie year, mind you.

So a bit better than I thought, but still not good by any means.
