The Orioles have fired manager Sam Perlozzo and replaced him with bullpen coach Dave Trembley, FOXSports.com has learned. The firing of Perlozzo was first reported by The (Baltimore) Sun. In addition, the Orioles are expected to name former Cubs executive Andy MacPhail their chief operating officer, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. MacPhail developed a strong relationship with Orioles owner Peter Angelos when the two were on opposite sides of the bargaining table during baseball's labor negotiations in 2002. Trembley will be the team's interim manager while the Orioles search for a permanent replacement. Among the possibilities: Former Marlins manager Joe Girardi, former Orioles manager Davey Johnson and former White Sox manager Jerry Manuel. Aaaahhh...can someone correct this format??? In two words: Mazzone's toast! His relationship with his pitchers ain't too good.
Don't know if we want him back, even dismissing the propoganda that BS continually spouted on that other place, I still wasn't 100% sold on Leo's magicians mantra in ATL. When you get handed a Smoltz, Glavine, Avery & then Maddux as your core, there's room for some doubt. Though the way he could take other teams castoffs & mold a bully was impressive. I still think it was a mix of his pitching system (Sain's more is better) rather than any technical input that contributed. I don't think any one element was the key to da Bravos long run, but the mix of all of them.

I had heard rumblings a few days ago that both jobs were in jeopardy. At the time, I thought **how ironical that Mazzone left (or, was not asked back - however you want to look at it) for more money and opportunity to work with old friend** - and, now, here he sits without his friend and possibly without his high-paying job. He would, no doubt, still get paid.
No, I don't want him back and no, the Braves don't want him back. 'Nuff said.

Leo went to BAL with a year left on his contract. There was no apparent animous (contrary to all of BS rantings), just a gentlemans agreement between Perlozzo & Mazzone that Cox & JS knew about. Still as I said as long as they keep the Sain/Mazzone pitching system, the pitching coach isn't as important.
