This is my first post on the new Fanhome. Thought I'd make it on the Braves board, since that was my first post on the old BaseballBoards (remember tham?).

I'm not sure this board will last, however. How can we talk about the Braves without a half dozen sticky notes at the top, a special baord you have to pay for and a "premium" site with rumors that really don't matter unless they actually happen. Or a mod who calls people idiots?

Here's hoping all the speculation on Glavine turns out to be as accurate as all the speculation on Giles.

Shanks only appearance on the peasants' board was to close a thread by someone asking why he hasn't posted since Glavine signed. He also deleted a post I had saying he needed to get rid fo the link saying Glavine would sign with the Braves and sent me a p-mail telling me not to tell him how to run his website.

I know we probably shouldn't be talking about the old board here, but he is really a jerk.

Maybe you should let him know that there are other sites and he should appreciate that you still visit his web site.

That tool don't care if you visit his site or not, if you ain't a payin' member. Ah'm pretty shur Longtime don't pay.

Damn UCLA is gonna knock off USC, if they don't do sumpin' stupid here in the last minute.

What does he do to make money from that site? I know he doesn't have that many subscribers to his private rambles....

There seem to be quite a few who do since the premium board seems to get quite a few posts. If somebody wants to buy it that is there business but my theory is if a trade happens it will be in my local paper and on ESPN. Rumors are worthless if they don't pan out.

I think I recall that there were 56 in the premium chat room at one point. Now a year's subscription is 80 bucks, so let's assume all these chatters are around for the long haul. That's $4,480. I'll randomly guess that about half the premium subscribers were there at the height of the Glavine hub-bub. That would make the total about $9,000. How much of that does Shanks get from Scout, well I dunno. Doesn't seem like he could be making all that much overall, but who knows.

Thi sis just my opinion, but from the articles I've read of his I just don't think he's that good of a writter. That's one reason I never consider paying for the premium. Besides, like you said all he can give is rumors, the rest I will hear just as fast, and the rumors will get leaked eventually.
