Recently there was a rumor about the Braves trying to trade Tim Hudson. If they did trade him I guess that would open room to resign Tom Glavine. I for one would rather keep Hudson. I think the changes he made towards the end of the year solved most of his problems and he will return to form this year. We already have him long term and if he does return to from that will only make his value go up if we need to trade him to save the money.
Glavine on the other hand I feel pitched about as well as he could last year. I don't see that he can get any better or even continue to do the same as last year. Personally I would just rather have the younger pitcher that we can keep for a few years. As for next year I would say they are both questionable as to what they will do. So if you had the choice between the two who would you prefer? |

This is the worst possible time to get rid of Hudson; his value is as low as it could get. With Glavine we pretty much know what we get at this stage in his career: a very good pitcher in the first half who fades badly after the break. But, he is essentially another coach on the staff who knows the league well and is a master at his craft. For sentimental reasons I would like to bring him back and get him to 300 in a Braves uniform.

Where's the neither option? If it has to be one or the other, Hudson.

Unless Hudson makes a big-time turnaround in a hurry we might very well be in a situation where we will trade him for nothing just to get out from under his contract. I really hope that isn't the case. I honestly don't know what happened to him since he came over that threw his mechanics so off and took away his control.

The latest pfrom Rotoworld:
According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Braves are trying to trade Tim Hudson, but are asking for too high of a price right now. That Hudson could demand a second trade after next year scares some teams. However, he'd probably need to bounce back next season in order to pull that off. He's due just $6 million next year in his heavily backloaded deal, leaving him with salaries of $13 million each of the following two seasons. Even in this market, he'd have to pitch better than he did in 2006 in order to receive that kind of money. If the Braves can't trade Hudson, it's less likely that they'll make an offer to Tom Glavine. Source: FOXSports.com |
