Default Braves sign Redman

Assuming this is to replace Mr Hampton. I dont see us signing him and him not making the club...Not really thrilled about the deal but from what I remember Redman was pretty decent his last year in Florida so lets hope coming back to the NL and the NL East will be good for him....

Crap

Quote:
He is scheduled to report to the Braves Friday night and will start Saturday's exhibition game.

He will be making the start that Mike Hampton was scheduled to make before he injured an oblique muscle Wednesday. Hampton could miss eight weeks after missing 17 months due to reconstructive elbow surgery.
Braves Press Release

Quote:
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- The Atlanta Braves today agreed to terms with free-agent left-handed pitcher Mark Redman on a minor-league contract for the 2007 season, with a non-roster invitation to spring training. Financial terms of the deal were not announced. Redman is expected to join the club in Florida tonight and will make his first start tomorrow (Saturday, March 10) in the Braves' spring exhibition game against the Toronto Blue Jays. He will wear uniform number 19.

Id rather sign him than waste Salty on Pavano. Once Hamtpon is back hes also a better 6th starter than Lance Bass i mean Lance Cormier

Eh, it's a minor league deal, not much risk. If he can pitch, it should pay off. If he can't, no biggie.

If we use him for a few weeks and dump him when (and if) Hampton comes back, I think this is a good move. My only fear with a deal like this is that he will dominate in spring training, suck in the regular season, and that we will then allow him to take someone else's spot after Hampton comes back in hope he will rediscover the ability he showed when he was getting AA hitters out in March.

He's expected to be Atlanta's No. 4 starter behind John Smoltz, Tim Hudson and Chuck Jones.
Did we trade Chuckie?

I don't mind the Redman signing - before he went ot Kansas City , he was fairly decent for the Fish. That move would work against anyone's psyche.
