But Jones insists his contract won't have to match those received by Soriano and Wells. It simply must be a fair one.
"I'm not saying that the only thing I'm doing is playing for money," Jones said. "I play the game because I love the game. But I'm getting paid for it and I need to get paid fair enough based on what kind of player that I
am."
Andrew is saying all the proper things, and is being quite honest. How refreshing. JS' silence is deafening, though. Even though he doesn't normally discuss negotiations in public, I would think, by now, that he'd reciprocate the sentiment and state that the Braves would love to keep AJ too. I guess it's all a mystery and JS certainly won't give Boras the satisfaction of knowing how he's leaning. It sure would be a bug in the craw of Boras, though, should Andruw end up back with the Braves at a smaller contract than would please old Scotty.

As a fan of the Braves I want to feel like it was said heartfelt.... as a fan of baseball that knows how the Scott Boras machine works, I feel like this was the first of many "canned" quotes that Andruw has been instructed to say. The key word is "fair". Boras' idea of fair based on the Braves budget and what baseball is paying right now are worlds apart. Still think he's playing his last year in a Braves uniform.

Its time to get rid of Time Warner, but wait, we are getting rid of Time Warner.

We are just replacing them with a Time Warner clone in Liberty Media

With Scott Boras serving as his agent, there's a popular belief that Jones will find himself counting his riches outside of Atlanta by the time the 2008 season arrives. It's no secret that Braves general manager John Schuerholz would love for his business world to exist without the presence of Boras.
I think this part of the articel says more than all the rest.
