If management is adamant about dealing Andruw, which I also don't think is necessarily the best decision, I don't see why dealing Giles is reasonable, much less imperative. As others have said, he will likely not receive the largest raise due to his down year and, I think, at this point still as likely a bet to rebound than to repeat or regress. If trading our power-hitting good defender in center field is on the agenda, I just can't see a very sound logic in trading Giles – unless of course it is a definitive upgrade, which seems difficult with the current options to take over 2B.
And, by the way, it is nice to see this place back up. Edit: Sounds like our sentiments are pretty similar, Yogi. |

Not to mention the fact that Renteria has absolutely horrible range. I like his character and he seems to be a good guy in the clubhouse, but I think we are way overpaying for a poor fielder and horribly streaky hitter.

egomaniac?.............
careful, we already have a couple of folks on here that will tattle to the ego... but yeah, it is good to see a few fmiliar names. As to Giles........there was "rumor" that he has a personal issue or two that do not agree with the stoic professionalism of this club. |

That drinking rumor was started on the board by dvdrulez or something like that. He brought up the games Marcus missed on the road and wondered if it was due to a drinking problem.
The owner of the site then said something like "you're very perceptive" and then wondered why everyone jumped on him for basically substantiating a rumor. Marcus probably didn't give him an interview at some point. God knows why the guy is in love with Homeracio Ramirez. |

Ho-Ram must have that special Braves "makeup" that Giles does not. Let's ignore everything they do on the field and focus on this intangible that only the enlightened jock-sniffers are prescient enough to comment upon.
bill and his psycophantic butt-lickers can have scout; I just want to be able to have an open discussion about baseball. |
