I hope Hubbard is ready to put in a lot of time this spring with KJ and Aybar on defense around the keystone sack, because the notion of Prado out there every day is a nightmare.

I understand the money aspect of it, but JS tipped his hand WAY to early that they were even considering a non-tender. There went any leverage you had in a trade. There was so many rumors and "talk" that there was another reason, but unless it was really bad and was known league wide, I can't see how they could not get a couple of minor leaguers for him.

What's frustrating is that, even if every GM in the game knew that we were going to non-tender him, we could have still gotten something for him. Some team would have been willing to at least give us a minor league roster filler so that they wouldn't have to bid for him on the open market.
I wonder if JS was trying to make a pouty statement about the small budget. If so, it was done at the expense of the team itself and is unforgiveable. I have been a supporter to the point of apologist for him in the past, but I am not so anymore. Being a manager of a low budget team that is forced to move some of its better players is a lousy position to be in. But that is his job and if he isn't able and willing to do a decent job of it then he needs to go. I am absolutely furious about this. |

Now, hypothetically, if "the problem" is something like a cocaine addiction or alcoholism, causing his personality to have changed, then whatever team signs him will be taking a risk. But, for as classy an organization as the Braves tout themselves to be, letting "the problem" become public, seems sort of classless. |
