Wait, the AJC had journalistic integrity left to lose?

I'll seriously miss my newspapers, even though I have largely moved over to CNN. You just get a more in-depth brand of news in them than you do in a 45-second story being repeated every half-hour on the boob tube.
And I just flat-out cannot read the news on the internet. I've given up on that entirely. I'm just too damned old, I guess. Speaking of which... the Bravos can win the series for me tonight. One more year down, another 930 or so to go. Maybe that worthless bum of a first baseman can do something to help for a change.

Roffle.
I have every intention of surpassing that bum Methuselah. He was what, 969? So I'm shooting for 970. After all, only the good die young, right?

And yet another one-run road loss. I haven't done this in a while:
Home-games decided by more than one run: 25-13 (.658) Home games decided by one run: 5-5 (.500) Road games decided by more than one run: 13-14 (.481) Road games decided by one run: 0-17 (.000)

Just not our year. After two years of mediocrity and an offseason where our biggest splurge was 42 year old Tom Glavine you learn to have your expectations at a bareminimum so things like this horrdi season dotn bother you so much

Eh, we should still be in it. This has been nothing but bad luck. We've had at least 25 separate injuries (though to be fair, a few of those were to be expected. Still, there's no way we should be having the George Romero walking dead nightmare we've had), we're six games below our Pythagorean record (and we're six games out of first place), and our offense has scored somewhere in the neighbourhood of thirty runs fewer than they should have just based on their component stats because of their truly terrible hitting in the clutch.
Basically, every single fluky, unlucky, non-real thing that can happen to a team has happened to us, all in the same season.

Didn't stay up to watch the second half of the game game and I when I saw we lost by one run again, all I could think of was how Hudson has to be counting the days till he can bolt from this mess.

Hmmm, optimism from the Snow - what has this world come to? Maybe we can blame it on global warming. It's nice to hear that we are a better team than our record shows, but all that matters to the rest of the world is the record and our record stinks.
I still have a teensy bit of hope. Turning it around has been done by other teams in the past, so it's possible - just probably not realistic. I have an idea - why don't we play the games and find out? ![]() ..wish it were more fun..

Well, I dunno if I'd call it optimism... I mean, we're an 88 or 89 win team if you take the bad luck out, maybe 90. That's likely good enough for a playoff spot, but it's not exactly a world-beater.
But we should be in the race.

Well they better at least take da Pad series this weekend or I'll really be an unhappy camper in SoCal. Though drawing Peavy vs JoJo in the opener wont' help, the 2nd game is a toss up & probably the last time I'll see Doggie face da Bravos live on Sunday.

..before you head to the ballpark... O'Brien says this:
By David O'Brien July 10, 2008 2:44 PM | Link to this By the way, regardless of what you may be reading elsewhere, Maddux is pitching Saturday against Charlie Morton. It’s Peavy vs. Reyes, Maddux vs. Charlie, Wolf vs. Campillo on Sunday
