Yeah, he's disappointed, but he should consider himself lucky he wasn't demoted a month ago and for a longer period of time. He mentions how he's been in the league for three years and he's surprised by the demotion. Well, if he's been around that long, he should be getting better, not worse. How he handles himself during this stint will tell a lot about him and may go a long way to deciding what the Braves do with him, either before the trade deadline or after the season. I hope he gets straightened out.

Interesting the treatment he gets from many fans: to wit, on the "other" boards, many posters submitted that Francoeur was such a great dude, he probably advocated his own demotion.
Clearly, empirical evidence suggests otherwise – if we are to believe Francoeur's quoted words in print – but I wonder if any other young player (hitting .230 in their third full season) would receive such treatment upon reassignment to the minor leagues. It was fairly obvious to everyone that some move like this had to be made, and Francoeur may have been a bit more wise to the move than he lets on; however, it seems a bit excessive to paint Francoeur as champion of his own relegation to AA. |

If this is the analogy, then why did Andruw stay (up) so long? He certainly had more than ample time time to figure it out. Was his D more valuable than frenchie's? I feel bad for him, but also feel that if he had not held out for arbirtration - the Braves might have found a little more more patience. had more than plenty time certainly had more than 3 years in the gbigs. certainly had more than 3 years in the bigs and coldn't figure it

jpx7, I know what you mean. Another board I'm on has posters that are completely enamored with French and can't understand why the Braves are being so impatient with him. Some folks have to realize that this is a business and if anything, the Braves waited longer than they should have, considering he was never benched.
Renny and GBF, looks like we may have caught a break with French spurning the last contract offer. |

Not really surprised by any of this. He's been his own worst enemy, bulking up & rejecting contract offers in hopes of getting the BIG $$ & now its bit him in the butt. Hopefully he'll get his stuff together. Sad it had to come to this.

Did he think he was going to get a huge raise when they called him into the office? Like Nado said, he has been his own worst enemy. If he's going to get down in the mouth and start talking like this, he'll be gone by the end of July. The way he's been hitting, though, we probably won't get much for him. |

He also said this:
His attitude is to turn this into a positive," his agent Molly Fletcher said. Gotta be fair. And, it's only until after the AS break - criminy - that's nuttin'.

Hey! Thay's MISTER traitor and turncoat to you.
You'll also notice that his agent was the one who said he wants to turn this into a positive. Sounds like she's just runnin' interference for him. |
