Default If Giles is non-tendered...

How many flamming bags of poo will you leave on JS's front porch? I'm gonna contribute three myself. I'm off to the store to stock up on bran and mexican food.

Meta a whole bunch for me....Giles is a good second baseman for this team.
I wonder how many remember how he was a few years ago?
He made himself a good second baseman by sheer work.

Wait, who's talking about him being non-tendered? That would irritate the hell out of me.

Everybody. It's pretty much expected that he'll be non-tendered if he's not traded.

Here Snow. The spin is already begun:

O'Brien

Quote:
Marcus Giles fans, of which there are plenty, have a difficult time understanding why the Braves might actually non-tender the plucky second baseman. Tuesday is the deadline for teams to tender contracts to arbitration-eligible players or make them free agents eligible to sign with any team.

If they non-tender Giles, a 2003 All-Star whose production has since slipped steadily, the Braves will get nothing in the way of compensation from any team that signs him. And folks, barring a late trade, it does appear the Braves are going to non-tender him.

...

A trade for Giles before Tuesday seems highly unlikely, because any interest team could wait to see if he’s non-tendered, them probably sign Giles for less than $6 mill _ maybe a LOT less _ and without giving up anything in a trade.

If the Braves non-tender him, it will be a financial decision based on Giles’ declined production and rising salary, which would be close to $6 million if the Braves tender him a contract. He’s a fifth-year arbitration-eligible player who’ll be eligible for free agency after the 2007 season.
And Bowman

Quote:
If the Braves aren't able to trade Giles by Tuesday, they'll likely choose to not tender him a contract. By doing so they'd make him a free agent and allow other teams to sign him at a lower figure.

With Kelly Johnson and Martin Prado serving as much cheaper options at the second base position, the Braves can save nearly $5 million and not experience the same type of loss they would have experienced if they'd chosen to trade Tim Hudson or Andruw Jones in an attempt to cut costs.

Default A Poo Conflagration

One for every point of OPS between Giles' 2007 season and the one Prado et al put up for the Braves in 2007.

Brule... I think you are fighting a losing battle. This is just one time that "baseball" is not part of the equation. Seems it's personal and financial only.

I hope he haunts the Braves every time he gets an AB against them.

What a freaking stupid, stupid move.

Best 2b in the past how many years, just allowed to walk away.

EFFING brilliant.
