Just got back from the game--was sitting next to the braves bullpen--a few observations:
1. Huddy looked off all night, just wasn't getting any grounders. That's the 2nd time I've seen him get knocked around in Texas...makes me wonder. 2. Chipper and Mac seem to be the only ones with a clue at the plate right now. Frenchy was literally swinging at every pitch...K'ed 3 or 4 times can't remember exactly. 3. Brandon Jones seems to have a nice bat but also seems a little slow in the outfield. At this point though, I'd welcome any offensive pop from our outfield over a little speed. 4. Far be it from me to judge anyone on by first impressions, but after listening and watching the guys in the bullpen, I came away with the impression that the larger part of professional athletes are kinda knuckleheadish. I couldn't blame the guys for being a little loose though cuz they were getting heckled by a Ranger fan who eventually ended up being tossed out in the 8th. 5. Eddie Perez stole three of my cheese fries. ...Think that about sums it up. Pitching really never gave us a chance tonight. I'll be headed back out again tomorrow. BTW, there was a nice contingent of Braves fans there and we *almost* managed to get the chop started in the 9th....good times. |

Who was the San Diego bullpen pitcher who used to do the bit during games where he'd creep along against the stands like he was on a ledge on the 42nd floor, sneak up below someone who didn't see him, and steal their drink from between their feet as they watched the game? It was probably about 15 years ago.
Eddie didn't do it like that, did he?

Hey Snow,
I was sitting *right* next to the bullpen and had my plate of cheese fries sitting on the ledge next to the rail that separates that section of seats from the visitors' bullpen. Eddie just kind of slowly sauntered over to the said ledge and reached his hand thru the railing to grab some fries. To which I told him, "You're welcome." He & I both laughed cuz he knew I was a Braves' fan. I was tempted to ask him to sign something, but Roger McDowell was in the bullpen and has just told off a bunch of kids for wanting autographs. |
