Twisted ankle. Welp, now that Bennet fills in for JJ, who fills in for Glav? (Morton) We are cursed! Damn cubbies.
The Official Site of The Atlanta Braves: News: Ankle injury forces Jurrjens to skip start While walking down the dugout stairs after Tuesday night's loss to the Cubs at Wrigley Field, Jair Jurrjens twisted his right ankle. Instead of making his scheduled start against the Cubs on Wednesday night, Jurrjens will be nursing an injury that the Braves are hoping doesn't force him to join John Smoltz, Tom Glavine and Mike Hampton on the DL. "I feel like I'm in the twilight zone," Braves general manager Frank Wren said. "I'm going to be like Pavlov's dog and have an aversion to phones ringing."

Just read about Jair and this is unbelievable. I honestly cannot remember any team being this injured where it affected so many of the starters. If it gets any worse, they may have to promote the entire AAA squad. Sheesh!

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse! This team is snakebit! Walking down the friggin dugout steps!????
![]() Watch out Huddy you're next! Make sure your insurance is paid up! Might as well DL Chipper & let him get fully healthy. We're goin nowhere fast; might as well give him a healthy shot at .400!

Okay, let's see:
In the pen, Soriano has missed nearly a third of a season, Gonzalez has missed all of the season thus far, and Moylan is gone for the year. In the outfield, Kotsay is out indefinitely and Diaz is out for a month to six weeks (IIRC). In the infield, Chip is just coming back, and has missed about seven games (again, IIRC). On the bench, Norton missed what, a week? Just enough time that we couldn't DL him and get another warm body in his place. In the rotation, Glav is on the DL for the second time, JJ has hurt his ankle, Hampton is out indefinitely, Smoltzie's gone for the year, and Chuckie is out indefinitely (I know his is not technically an injury, but instead a demotion, but I still don't believe that it is coincidence that his ERA has doubled since the torn rotator cuff flared up, and so I'm counting him). That's 12 players. Hell, these guys need to turn the horseshoes over, wash their socks, and maybe sacrifice a few small animals. Someone get Jobu on the damn horn. I got cigars and scotch to give him, for Christ's sake!

AT this point I start thinking the other teams have their nerve playing hard against our broken team. There should be a mercy clause in MLB that handicaps any team, with five or more DL'd players, 5 runs prior to the start of the game.
We'd still lose...

Wasn't Ridgeway the guy with the 100+ ERA (not ERA+) that we got for Aybar?

Just keep telling yourself that with our road woes, we probably would have lost even if we were healthy. All you can do at this point is hope we get enough wins to keep the team in the running and make a run if/when we get the guys back from the dl. |
