Default ATL v AZ...5/25/08...

Afternoon folks.

We seem to be running out of things.

There are resources that are in short supply nowadays, and by resources I mean, PEOPLE. Special or exceptional people that the planet is going to the emptier and lonelier for once they exit stage next.

I read something in an article this morning that gave me pause and put the brakes on my 3 day weekend. Did you know that 4, 734, 991 Americans served in World War I? P'raps you did, but did you ALSO KNOW THAT:

There are only 2 Beatles left.
There are only 3 living Presidents.
There are only 2 living pitchers with more than 350 wins.
only 2 living players with more than 700 HRs.

And folks...of the 4, 734, 991 Americans that served in WW I....I regret to report that 4, 734, 990 are no longer among us. There is ONE left. One man left to tell the tale. My friends, time's change and there is always a page to be turned. It turns upon us all, and at some point, a new blank page will turn unmarked, and another generation will write their story; they will speak their own piece of the history they will live and define. The last of them may not tell it's truth, but they will affix their signature at it's end. But I digress.

Two men lean in from the high ground:

Glavine vs. Owings.
Lineups are HERE.
Kibbitz...
GO>>>>

I might be wrong in some of my assertions above. If so, corrections are welcomed.

Hopefully a bad first is a good sign for Tommy, but he is definitely assaulting my nerves so far this afternoon.

I hope the offense gets going quickly here. Glavine threw way too many pitches in the top of the first.

Horsie: you couldn't throw some alternating red-and-blue formatting on to that opener? I'm dead inside without multicolor lineups.

Much better inning for Glavine.

Also: too bad none of the Beatles left have produced much good music lately; I'm still disappointed Elliot Smith cut himself down in the midst of his productive days . . .

Any reason Chipper is not starting today? Thought we would've gotten more off Owings that inning. Patience is a virtue I guess.

Horsie, here on Fantasy island where there are tons of vets, the # of WW II vets is dwindling as well. They have special trolley's they ride in the 4th of July Parade & its down to just one now.

Back spasms, Nado: he was playing too rough with his kids, apparently, but should be back in the lineup tomorrow.

Roge on that jp, too bad, but Infante is doing OK, just wish Tex would get a little more consistent even with his improved performance over the last 10 days.

Not a fan of Elliot Smith?

Or just didn't want to be reminded about all of your chromatic font options?

[Looks like Glavine's losing his control in odd-numbered innings.]

You're telling me it wasn't already soaked with beer?
