Got to watch part of the game tonight off and on and since I don't get to see the Braves that much, I have to ask y'alls opinions. I watched Tex swing a few times and he looked like he was bored. I'm hoping it isn't so, but after six weeks, I don't see this as a "he starts off slow every year" problem. Do my eyes deceive me? The fact that Bobble keeps him in the #4 spot just pisses me off more.

Those with more knowledge than I can answer better, but I think once he starts getting in a groove (hopefully it comes) - we'll see more fire in his eyes. Sometimes I get the impression from him that he is an image in his own eyes - maybe that's what you see, dice, and call it boredom.

He's probably so concentrated on his FA, that he does get ticked at himself for not having a better contract year. I wish we'd see him smile more.

From Renny:

See, now doesn't that just make you want to see us get Andruw back? You may get a lot of strikeouts, but he'll be a-smilin' all the way back to the dugout.

My head says we should be a strong contender for the wild card, at least.

My heart says we don't have one.

You know, it's funny, but this is almosst exactly the opposite of my feelings towards this. This offseason, I completely discounted the possibility that Ring and Ohman could ever be a successful part of our pen simply because they are guys who righties kill and who lefties can't touch, and Bobby has never been willing to use pitchers in that fashion. So I've actually been glad to see them being used in the only way in which they can help the team.

As far as Tex goes, he just doesn't look right at all this year. He's hitting more grounders than I remember him hitting, here or in Texas, for one thing. And he just seems less aggressive at the dish all the way around. I was expecting him to drop to something like .280/.375/.520 this season just because he's no longer playing half of his games in Coors West, but he's only hitting .254/.350/.423.

Hell, he's being outhit by Chipper (obviously), McCann, Escobar, KJ, Blanco, Prado, and Gotay this season (though obviously those last three are in small sample sizes), and Kotsay is right on his heels.

Yeah, and I picked him to start 1b on one of my fantasy teams.

- dice, I don't expect Teshy to smile during his trot to the dugout, after he K's. I would just like to see some interaction with the other guys and actually act like (play the part) he enjoys being here. I guess what snow said is correct - he just is not having a Teixeira Type year - so far.

I believe it will change, but, it's agonizing waiting on him to come around. Speaking of Druw's smile, did anyone read the AJ article on him and how much he misses Atlanta? He is not using that as an excuse for his poor play, but admittedd that it does affect him - going to a strange, empty house. He also addressed the smile issue and said "it was a part of his face" - couldn't change it even if he wanted to.
