Default Pirates interested in LaRoche

Quote:
The Pirates have asked the Braves about Adam LaRoche, but it's unlikely that they'd part with Mike Gonzalez for the first baseman.
If LaRoche could be counted on to continue to produce at his 2006 level, it'd be worth moving Gonzalez for him. However, he's unlikely to manage another 915 OPS next season. The Pirates might be more open to dealing Paul Maholm. The Angels are another team that's expected to inquire about LaRoche.

Personally, I'm not as high on LaRoche as many people are and I'd love to get Mike Gonzalez for him assuming that we couldn't package him with something to the Angels for either Shields or Santana.

I'm probably in the minority on that though. I feel like LaRoche's year was the product of a hot streak and his value will never be higher. Move him and start grooming Saltalamacchia for 1B.

Id rather deal with the Angels

I think we can get more than Gonzo for LaRoche

I like Gonzo, but Id want more than him for Adam

I could live with that trade, but I wouldn't crap my pants with excitement.

Well, I believe this year was a fluke, so I'd be all for trading high.

100% agree'd. But i'd only trade him if we get good return.

Yeah, but I think Mike Gonzalez would be a pretty good return. Especially in this bull pen market.

For what the price of free agents is this year I would think anyone we have to trade this year should comand a very high return.

Always good to mix trenchant analysis with wordplay.
