I was afraid some of the talk might be accurate about Glavine returning for 300 in Turner Field. I definately will not spend my money to see him.
His antics with the Union and his "stoic professionalism" crap along with his stubborn streak about 'out and away' pissed me off more than once. In my view, his stubborness lost us just as many as he won for us. I hope some other team shels out the bucks but I have a feeling we are stuck with him, maybe. On another note.............God am I glad Shanks isn't running this show. |

Hey D. I don't think it is about shelling out the bucks this time. If that were the case, he would have already resigned with the Mets. I think it is just a matter of seeing whether the Braves actually want him back. Today is the first day that they can really talk to him. I mean, no other team besides the Braves and Mets have a shot at him and he already knows where the money is. I think at this point it comes whether the Braves really want him.

Here's hoping Glavine doesn't come back. A one year rental just doesn't fit the picture.
Smoltz, Hudson, and Hampton aren't going anywhere. I know some want to trade Hudson, but it's unlikely. As it is we have 2 spots between James, Davies, and Horacio. James is a lock. I want Davies to continue learning in the majors. It's necessary for most young pitchers; AAA doesn't teach everything. Davies is still the same promising pitcher he was in the minors and his rookie year, and he deserves that MLB learning time. Horacio's a goner IMO, and I can't see replacing any of the remaining guys for a rental, even a good rental. I'll second the motion on Shanks. He can be outright offensive. |

Awww, I loved Millwood.
I remember that one hit game he pitched (of course, the one hit was a homer) in the '99 post season (against the stros, no?). I had just gotten off the bus from school, got in the car with the radio on, and BAM! Homerun. I was so upset. If my mom hadn't been sitting there I would've let out a string of cusswords. The rest of that game didn't turn out so bad, though. |

I have mixed emotions over this, honestly. I won't feel wonderful or terrible either way.
I was sad to see him go, I do blame JS some for pursuing Hampton and kind of ignoring Glavine, but I still cringe when I see Glavine in a Met uniform. I certainly don't want to see a guy like Chuck James downgraded to make room for Glavine, but if he does come back, I'll be okay with it and if he doesn't, I'll live with it. I have before. I'm wishy-washy on my first post here, not usual for me, but I'm glad to see some old friends. |

Personally I don't want him back. I would rather see the Braves not sign any players that old regardless of who they are. I would rather see all teams try to build a strong farm system and constantly have young players coming up, then resigning them once they become free agents, and team's keeping there own.
If a team has a need then they will have to sign a free agent, but in that case I would want to sign one that is young enough to sign long term and build with taht player. The only way I want to sign an up in age player is if I have a player already but that player is not quite ready. Then I need a one or two year player just to fill the gap. |

Sadly, I think he will come home...
Now, do I want him to come home ? NO I just dont want to give a 40 year old pitcher who isnt named Roger Clemens 7 mil or 8 mil. I just dont think its worth it, while Glavine has been great in his career and his last 2 years have been GOOD. Its bound to catch up with him, isnt it ? I just dont see him keeping his ERA under 4 this year, I see it @ or above his FIP from last year which was 4.3. IMO, I would rather put that 7 mil towards a LF and/or RP. Just say No Glavine, JS |

A little bird told me that Glavine is homebound.
EDIT: Okay, the bird changed his mind and said that all we did was offer a contract to Glavine. This is why I don't trust avians. http://www.metsblog.com/blog/_archiv...8/2534708.html Quote:
